Flotillas
Join Sail Solomons for a fantastic flotilla week in the British Virgin Islands this winter! A flotilla allows you to “cruise in company” – you’ll sail as captain or crew on a beautiful, well-equipped charter boat, in company with a lead boat/flotilla leader who is a local area expert. Flotillas give you the freedom to do as you please, with the security of knowing that there is help readily on hand. It’s a great balance of independence and support for new and seasoned sailors alike.
Sail Solomons is hosting both Monohull and Catamaran flotillas, offered at the dates and prices shown below. Prices are based on deposits received by 14 July, allowing yacht confirmation for early booking discounts. Once yachts are confirmed, deposits are not refundable. After that, yacht prices increase 20-30% – if the boats are still available. Any savings gained from additional volume discounts will be credited to each yacht’s Cruising Kitty, which will be needed for mooring fees, ice, water, beverages, etc.
- Cabins: prices are per person for double-occupancy cabins.
- Singles: if you’d like to share with another single, let us know and we’ll try to match you up.
- Private single cabins: Calculate (cost/person x 2) – $330 for provisions & taxes.
- Courses: you’ll have the option to take ASA 104 Bareboat Charter during the Monohull week, and ASA 104/114 Cruising Catamaran during the catamaran week. Course cost is additional ($250/student).
If you’d like to participate in the flotilla, but reserve your own boat (smaller or larger, power or sail), just let us know and we can work a suitable yacht for you.

- Split-Provisioning (4 dinners ashore, everything else onboard) – boats may also elect to do their own provisioning instead
Air Transportation:
Current airfares are approximately $240/person/round trip from the Washington DC area to St Thomas. From St Thomas, you can take a ferry to Road Town Tortola, where the yachts are based. You can also fly into Tortola’s Beef Island airport and taxi to the charter base. Plan to arrive on/before the charter start date listed below, and depart after noon on the charter end date. Information on ferries and ground transportation will be provided.
Cruising Kitty:
Each boat will fund and maintain a Cruising Kitty for onboard expenses including: refundable security deposit, mooring or marina fees, ice, water, fuel, trash disposal, supplemental provisions, and beverages.
Travel Insurance:
Your fee includes travel insurance provided through the charter company, which covers the traveler’s fees in the event of delays or cancellations due to sickness, injury or death of the traveler, traveling companion or immediate family member. For the plan to be effective, each member onboard must carry this insurance. Detailed “Description of Coverage” is available on request.
